What Do You Really Want?

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your life's direction? It is important to understand that in order for you to see progress and improvement in your life and have a sense of direction, you need to know what you want. You need not look far to know what you want, but considerable time is required to figure out what you want or what is your purpose. It is not as difficult as it seems, all you have to do is listen and it will come to you. Remember your true essence is spirit and it is seeking expression in the physical world through you. The desire for something, to be something or to do something is spirit seeking expression.

This is how you are able to find out what works and resonates with you, and from this you establish your goal. Sometimes knowledge of one's goal comes as a result of one's current and immediate circumstances, like unhappiness of your present situation or lack of certain important necessities of life. From all of these a goal can be established and a person can find themselves knowing where to go and what to do.

Knowing what you want is important for many reasons and one is that it will help you to know what you need to do and what not to do with your time on any given day. It helps you keep your actions in check and monitored, it enables you to have a foundation upon which all of your thoughts will be stemming from. Have you seen how effective your mind is when it knows what it is looking for? It knows which piece of information to accept and which one to assess and which one to reject.

When your goal is plain and clear to you and you can easily define it to the next person in a clear and concise manner, your mind will work day and night to find ways and means of achieving your desired outcome. You will not easily be influenced by the opinions of other people, and you will be in the right frequency and all the right information which is vital to the accomplishment of your goal will find its way to you. Things will just fall in place. Have you observed how when we truly want something and whether or not we have the means of acquiring that particular thing we stop at nothing to get it?

The evidence is there, simply look at your life in retrospect and look at the things you own and you will realize that you have and own those things for one major reason and that reason is you wanted them. There are some of those things that at some point you did not know how you will get them, but you found a way. The same principle applies, which is to know what you want. You knew what you wanted and that is why you have the things that you now have.

It is the same with life's goals and personal goals, we have to know what it is we want. It is not important to be stressed about how you will achieve that goal. Worrying about how you will achieve it will only delay and stop you from deciding on what you want, which is why you must be less concerned about how and start to be more concerned about what you want.

Here is a key element, when you are deciding on your goal, understand that if your goal does not scare and excite you at the same time, you are not really challenging yourself and probably not even going in the right direction. Your goal must be scary and exciting, this will mean that whatever you set out to achieve is bigger and better than the present circumstance you are confined in and that it is something outside of your normal way of doing things.

What you want has to be a desire, a burning desire and not a mere wish. There is a difference between wanting or desiring something and simply wishing for it. There is a saying that goes like this "if wishes were horses, beggars would ride". Desire on the other hand will fuel you and propel action on your part which will lead to the achievement of your objective, but the desire or goal has to be definite. You must be sure about what you want.

Why Do You Want It?

Knowing why you want something is equally important as knowing what you want. When we talk about why you want your goal, we are looking at the emotional side of your goal. The true secret to achieving goals is understanding the emotion behind the goal, it is knowing why you want to achieve that specific goal.

You need to ask yourself various questions about your goal, like why do you want to achieve that goal? What does achieving that goal mean to you, what difference will it make in your life and what impact will it have on those around you? The point of all of this is to identify the emotions behind your goal and for you to establish a foundation upon which why you want to achieve your goal.

When you know why you want something it is easy for you to act in a way that is consistent with the direction of your goal. Whenever you find yourself discouraged and demotivated you can simply refer to the reason for which you are going after that goal and that as a result, will stimulate feelings which propelled you in the first place to embark on that journey of your goal.

This helps you stay focused on the target and keeps you going despite present circumstances and conditions. You could be flat broke and with nowhere to sleep but if you remember the feeling that you felt when you decided to go after your dreams, the easier it is to maintain faith and hope that you will get what you set out to achieve.

We live in a world of influences which are manipulating the way we behave and how we feel about the world around us. This is another reason why we have to know why we want what we want. Is it because we were told to get it or do we want it because it will make us happy or will it make other people happy? If what we want and why we want it is solely for the benefit or to please other people, the easier it is for us to give up, because the reason for which we want our goals is not compelling enough to push us beyond numerous challenges that normally arise when one is embarking on a journey of goal achievement.

Goal achievement is a mental game and you need mental strength to succeed. Without such strength you will find it very difficult to maintain your focus and to be persistent in your efforts to achieve this goal. When we say it is a mental game we mean that you have to understand the importance of taking action and that action needs sufficient power behind it to be successful at acquiring desired results. This power is emotions behind your action, this is where we have to understand that action is an effect of thought. Thought when mixed with feeling triggers an action and depending on the nature of the emotion, the more powerful the action will be.

When Do You Want To Achieve It?

To be successful at reaching your goal, you must remember that it must not just be a mere wish but it must be a deeply rooted desire and it must be definite. To make sure that it is definite you must put a clock on it, which means it must have a time frame of when you want to reach it. The reason for having a time frame and it being definite is psychological and it will be very clear to you when you keep reading.

The mind is truly remarkable and when it knows what it wants, why it wants it and by when it wants it, it becomes attuned to the forces of nature which are necessary for the accomplishment of its objective. The subconscious part of your mind, which is the part that is independent of your conscious control becomes stimulated to align your actions toward the direction of your goal.

Having a time frame for your goals will enable you to recognize and seize opportunities when they present themselves. You will learn not to be bound by any setback or temporary defeat which you will experience along the way.
